Vehicles are of welded construction; design of body and underframe arranged so that sole bars and cantrails are combined to form one structural member; as indication of weight saving effected, weight of 10 standard vestibule coaches is 300 tons, whereas that of 10-coach train of articulated vestibule stock is 245 tons.
