In order to overcome corrosion of rail within limits of joint bars caused by brine drippings and stoker ash, New York Central Railroad packs space behind bars with oil wood flour paste, rust inhibiting compound which excludes all moisture and other corroding substances, and provides lubrication for normal rail expansion and contraction within joints; manner in which work is done and results being accomplished.
