To determine relative advantages and disadvantages of longer rails, one mile of 78-ft, 127-lb, Dudley-section rails were laid near Grandview, Mo, 25 mi south of Kansas City; methods used in laying long rails; results of preliminary tests to determine effect of temperature changes on performance of rail.
