To estimate main engine power necessary to fulfil certain speed conditions in new ship design, without assistance of actual tank tests, is matter that causes naval architect much concern on account of small margin to which he is forced to work; admiralty coefficient and nominal propulsive coefficient; calculating effective horsepower; nominal propulsive coefficients.
