Techniques for rearing and selecting standardized populations of young attached barnacles representing three species, Balanus eburneus, B. improvisus and B. amphitrite, that are used as bioassay organisms in evaluation of experimental antifouling paints of surface ships, submarines, and other underwater structures; procedures for using these barnacles in evaluation of paint, and some results, are included.
