American Car and Foundry Co method of lighting passenger coaches provides illumination for reading, night lighting and day lighting under all weather conditions; self-contained fluorescent fixtures are equally adaptable to new or existing cars; lighting fixtures consist of two continuous units running length of car along each side wall; illumination on 33-in. 45° reading plane is 14.5 foot-candles at window seat and 12.8 foot-candles at aisle seat.
