Six cars built by American Refrigerator Transit Co, St Louis, and loaded with frozen food, are being used in tests which railroads and government officials are making to determine what further improvements can be made in present method of insulating cars to provide best types of equipment for general service; they contain various amounts of insulation ranging from 3 to 7 in. in thickness; two of cars have reflective insulating material incorporated; temperature measurements.
