West Coast shipyards are applying war time production methods in building fishing boats to replace vessels lost during war or which are no longer suitable for fishing operations; particulars of 52-ft vessel Golden Bear built at National Iron Works, San Diego, Calif; speed 9 knots; propelled by Model D6-M 6-cyl, 4-cycle, 6 1/2 in. by 8 1/2 in. Lorimer Diesel rated 100 hp at 600 rpm, which drives 2 11/16 in. propeller shaft with 3:1 reduction gear.
