Brief illustrated description of first light weight helicopter to meet AAF military requirements for fast, maneuverable, easily maintained rotary wing aircraft; XR-9B has 28-ft diam 3-bladed rotor, is powered by 135-hp Lycoming 4-cyl air cooled engine, has dual controls, and tricycle landing gear; 27 ft 7 in. long; 8 ft 6 1/2 in. high; width 9 ft at landing wheels; fuselage is made of welded steel tubing with nose section of lucite.
