Satisfactory nomenclature and workable set of definitions, covering three types of commercial automotive crankcase oils, have been established by petroleum marketers; nomenclature, in conjunction with SAE Viscosity Numbers, will enable automotive manufacturers to recommend type of oil best suited for use under different operating conditions.
