Investigation conducted by San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District to study lateral stability of light weight, high-speed transit vehicles, research procedures employed, findings and recommendations are described; it is concluded that lateral stability of light weight vehicles in 800 lb/linear-ft class can be assured through designs incorporating 5 ft 6 in. gage track.
