Mathematical development of and procedure for conversion of modified pavement profile recorded by symmetrical elevation profilometers to "true pavement profile" are presented; advantages of using "true pavement profile" as basis for performance evaluation of pavements are discussed and examples presented; feasibility of extending this procedure to obtain continuous load-deflection profile and modification of presently available equipment to accomplish this objective are discussed.
