Road test procedure, using coastdown tests at various loads, was developed for measuring separately air and tire drag force of truck; rayon cord tires tested showed drag force of 8.2 lb/1000-lb load as measured by tire dolly towing tests; air drag coefficients measured by coastdown test procedure for four different truck-trailer combinations tested varied between 0.8 and 1.2, being relatively constant for any truck and trailer.
