Accurate prediction of performance of ship on measured mile trial is of great importance in ship design, and is commonly based on model experiments in conjunction with factors to convert model results to ship trial performance estimates; outline description is given of British Towing Tank Panel 1965 Standard Procedure for prediction; typical example of presentation of propulsion factors and ship performance estimates is given. (May 1965 p 419-22)
