Apollo spacecraft is composed of separate modules, each designed to fulfill specific mission requirements which are outlined for command module, service module, and lunar excursion module (LEM); lunar landing mission is to be performed by use of lunar orbit rendezvous method, utilizing single Saturn V launch vehicle; propulsion system will use earth-storable, hypergolic bipropellants and will have pressurized propellant feed system; guidance and navigation system and its functions; instrumentation and scientific equipment; operational support required for conduct of flight missions embrace flight, recovery, and crew; description of these operations.
