Four types of ducts of F-105 aircraft investigated by Lockheed are cast magnesium, honeycomb sandwich, integrally stiffened, and glass cloth laminate ducts; integrally stiffened type adopted, based upon circular aluminum extrusions, which were cut, opened out and formed to required curvatures; panels were reduced to design thickness, after being formed, by chemical etching.
