Design and performance of Ryan's X-13 Vertijet powered by 10,000-lb thrust Rolls-Royce Avon turbojet; X-13 is without either undercarriage or flaps, which simplifies design, and results in weight saving of 10%; for takeoff, it is suspended clear of ground, hooked to short length of cable, to which it returns at hover when landing.
