Through turbocharging, Fairbanks-Morse has boosted output of two-cycle opposed piston engine by 50%; specific fuel consumption, space requirement and weight per horsepower have been cut; turbocharging is applied to 6- and 12-cyl units; ratings of up to 300 hp per cylinder at 900 rpm are permissible.
