It is shown that takeoff weight of helicopter can be considerably increased in operations which are based at airfield, provided helicopter is of suitable configuration to permit running takeoff; piloting technique for running takeoff and increase in payload range capability is shown for particular helicopter; suitable helicopters are Bell HSL, Bristol 192 and possibly 173, Vertol HUP and Yak-24.
