Piloted simulator investigation results are examined to assess utility of simulators for defining and solving pilot-vehicle integration and control problems for various air- and spacecraft; comparative appraisals, obtained in ground based simulators and in flight, are used to indicate degree of simulator sophistication required, i.e. visual, motion, and other factors for routine handling qualities evaluations.
