Hydrofoils and air cushions are lifting Navy craft almost free of speed killing drag of water; research and development may soon bring same benefit to ocean-going operational Navy ships; information is given on research on vessel design and propulsion machinery, work in hand and projected, among project examples are 110-ft 40-knot submarine hunter-killer hydrofoil craft, and 20-ton air cushion craft possibly for mine sweeping, etc. From Sperryscope, 3rd quarter 1961.
