Variables affecting missile performance are outage, specific impulse, inert weight, usable propellant, and thrust of each stage; analytical method presented for determining effects of these variables on performance and for estimating probability of ballistic or orbital vehicle mission success; equations developed for 2-stage bipropellant missile system provide insight into functional relationships of variables involved and are applicable to 2-stage solid and monopropellant systems.
