Major steps forward to meteorological satellite system was development of Tiros project for study of atmospheric phenomena; samples from Tiros II Radiation Data Catalog are shown and radiometric experiments described; Nimbus spacecraft will have greater global coverage and improved spectral and angular resolutions than Tiros; various problems, such as check of calibration in orbit, are reviewed.
