Analysis of optimal descent trajectories for minimum retro-system weight for unmanned lunar vehicle is presented emphasizing physics of optimization procedure; effects of nonvertical trajectories and thrust attitude angles are considered; detailed method of handling optimization procedure for machine computation is given.
