Attempt is made to clarify dynamic steering properties of tire, closely related to shimmy problems; equations of dynamic steering properties of tire are derived with new concept regarding relations between tire and ground; assumption of linearity in theoretical procedures has allowed simplification of treatment of general dynamic steering properties of tire, which consists of 2 component responses of tire to steering angle input and lateral displacement input of wheel; by making use of derived equations, mechanism of energy flow between tire and ground is defined and phenomenon of "kinematic shimmy" explained.
