Newly built turbine tanker with immersed volume of 42,000 cu m, 10, 200 shp at 102 rpm of 4-bladed propeller and speed of 15.5 knots, was made available for measurements which were carried out for 2 drafts of ship and 102 rpm of propeller during trial trip and maiden trip of ship; pattern of material stresses in root of blade was determined by means of strain gages; measured stresses agree with those calculated according to different existing methods; in root of blade 4-fold safety margin against fatigue exists.
