Examination of NSST (Naive Slender Ship Theory), MSST (Michell), and VSST (Vosser) theories; interest is in certain analytical properties of these theories, relations between theories, and numerical results predicted by them; MSST predicts negative wave resistance, for unpointed ships, at low and high speed, validity depending strongly on hull shape; as result it is not yet possible to rely on MSST to yield usable results at any particular Froude number for any particular unpointed hull; for smooth pointed ships MSST, NSST and VS ST all agree and predict positive resistance for all Froude numbers.
