Attempt is made, by dimensional analysis combined with experiments, to establish general formula that covers many different soil deforming processes, such as vertical penetration, bulldozing, and land locomotion; parameters that describe soil deformation phenomena are established and set of dimensionless products is formed; it is shown that if velocity is low and configurations are similar, any force of soil deforming processes can be expressed by general equation between dimensionless numbers; by tentatively extending formula to dissimilar, soil deforming processes, geometrical configuration of vehicle operating units can be defined.
