Flight of Mariner Mars 1964 is basic building block in structure of long-range program that encompasses unmanned planetary flights over next decades with emphasis on Mars. studies; 1964 Mariner probes are still based on use of Atlas-Agena combination; enroute experiments planned; design features of advanced Mariner, scheduled for launches in 1966 and 1969; Voyager project, follow-on to Mariner, will provide combined orbiting and instrument landing vehicles for long-duration study of Mars and perhaps Venus; possible booster vehicles.
