First of six Constellation-class cargo vessels, Mormacargo, was built for Moore-McCormack Lines by Ingalls Shipbuilding Corp; features include automated, centrally controlled engine room, protruding bulbous-bow design for increased speed, multiple-hatch cargo holds, etc; length oa 550 ft 9 in., beam molded 75 ft, depth molded to main deck 42 ft 6 in., draft 31 ft 7 in., displacement 19,800 tons, service speed over 24 knots; dry cargo bale capacity is 665,300 cu ft and reefer about 40,000 cu ft; set of General Electric Co 19,000 shp cross-compound turbines is installed; plan.
