Tanker of 71,950 tons dw was built by Cammell Laird and Co (Shipbuilders and Engineers), Ltd for B.P.Tanker Co, and advantage was taken of latest revisions of Lloyd's Register of Shipping Rules, most noticeable effect of which is increased permissible length of cargo tanks; only 7 cargo tanks are incorporated in ship's length as against 12 which would formerly have been specified; ship length oa is 815 ft, breadth molded 112 ft 6 in., depth molded to upper deck 58 ft, summer draft 44 ft 1 1/4 in., gross 43,335 tons; propulsion is by cross-compound steam turbine coupled through gearing to propeller shaft; plans.
