Ground effect machine, to be competitive with carrier vehicles, would have to travel at velocities where aerodynamic shape would be required from drag considerations; question is raised as to whether vehicle could use aerodynamic lift of wing more efficiently than ground air cushion for support; ground proximity tests on rectangular wings with aspect ratios from 1 to 6 were made by image-wing method; end plates and wing tip fairings studied.
