In aerodynamic sense, load factor arises when loading conditions exceed steady level flight conditions; in structural sense, aerodynamic loads cease to be ultimate and become limit loads, associated conditions being termed limit loading conditions; influence of size on load factors; effect of high (subsonic) speed; phenomena of atmospheric gusts impose loading condition and therefore load factor, in excess of initial flight condition.
