Results of judgment tests of sounds are presented differing from previous studies in that they include sounds from turbofan engines; perceived noise level (PN) db is somewhat more accurate method of evaluating on comparative basis subjective noisiness or acceptability of aircraft sounds tested than other methods; loudness level (Stevens' Mark VI) predicts with accuracy of about 1-2 db noisiness of turbo and turbofan jets at different power settings when judged with respect to each other.
