VTOL flight testing involves measurement of certain quantities, some of which are same as for conventional aircraft; measurements of low horizontal speeds, altitude, and rate of climb and descent, present difficulties; to collect information author visited establishments with experience in V/STOL testing in summer 1960 and discussed measuring techniques; summary of general aspects, examples, physical quantities in V/STOL testing, and recording methods; optimum instrumentation suggested.
