It was found that high flying commercial aircraft were being contaminated by airborne radioactive debris to such degree that decontamination and protection of personnel was required; nature and extent of hazard of fallout on aircraft and outline of current practice in BOAC, how it can be measured and controlled with least possible adverse effect on normal airline maintenance and operations; application to airframes and engines.
