To present conditions pertaining to safety under which supersonic transport operates, accident statistics for U S Civil Air Carriers as compiled by CAB is examined; characteristics of Mach 3 transport are applied; estimate of what adherence to each of criteria would have meant if equipment operated over statistical period had anticipated SST characteristics rather than those of aircraft reported; from this, indication of what is required of SST emerges.
