Alweg overriding Monorail was built to demonstrate its potential as rapid mass transportation media; route extends from World's Fair grounds to central business district having 1.2 ml of double track; load carrying wheels run on relatively narrow surface, inadequate for stability without side wheels pressing on beam sides; car is composed of driving motor unit with driver's cab and full controls, and motor unit without cab and controls; 2 sections are equipped with one set of electrical and braking controls; stations are terminals and trains are unloaded and loaded at each stop; shuttle service between 2 terminals did not require switches.
