Extensive damage to flooring caused by stiletto heels of women's shoes can be traced to high pressures produced by heel diameters as small as 1/4 in.; these pressures, which reach 2000 to 3000 psi, are compared with other pressures; some suggestions are made to those responsible for selecting flooring materials.
