Recognizing need for simple turbine power plant that would be efficient with moderate flying speed, Bristol Aeroplane Co have been experimenting with gas turbine drives for normal type of propeller, and outcome is 2000-hp Theseus I engine, which has dry weight of 2310 lb and installed weight of very little more, there being no liquid coolant and only one small cooler for lubricating oil.
