Requirements for gasoline, diesel fuels, greases and lubricants operating under sub-arctic conditions are reviewed; choice of fuels for diesel equipment is limited to distillates and residuals (bunker type); for cold weather operation of mobile equipment usual requirement falls into ASTM Grade No.1-D; experience gained in Western Canada is summarized; it is shown that clearly defined recommendations for lubricants and fuels to be used in these areas are required.
