Design philosophy and particulars of range of 2- and 4-stroke marine engines of same basic design for outputs of from 2000 to 12,000 bhp; initial form was 12-cyl 2-stroke, trunk-piston engine of 300-mm bore and 380-mm stroke, designated type ZV30/38, and data for type and components are shown in table; longitudinal and transverse sections are shown for this engine and also cross section for 4-stroke engine, both utilizing vee arrangement for cylinder grouping.
