Influence of initial uniform circumferential and axial stress on frequency of vibrations of shells has been previously investigated on basis of shell theories yielding accurate results only for modes having large number of circumferential waves; in this study, bending theory by G.Herrmann and A.E.Armenakas is employed in re-examining influence of initial uniform circumferential and axial stress on frequency of vibrations of shells; results are compared with those of previous investigations; applicability to aircraft, rockets and missiles.
