Three-phase synchronous motors for variable-speed drives where strict requirements are imposed regarding speed coordination; due to recent developments it is now possible to utilize static frequency changers to feed such drives since they offer some important advantages over conventional motor-generator sets; form of static frequency changer particularly suited to this application is described.
