Comprehensive report of fully automatic train control on test track near San Francisco which is used as testing ground for four competing electronic train-control systems; it is shown how each company attempts to find solutions to such control problems as keeping trains apart, speed and acceleration, bringing trains to full stop within 1 ft of precisely specified point at railway station, and system supervision using automatic control equipment.
