Development of tank system with means of controlling flow was begun 6 yr ago by J.Bell, consultant to Muirhead and Co, who supply control gear for complete equipment, Muirhead-Brown controlled tank stabilizer, built in Scotland by Brown Brothers of Edinburgh; layout now adopted is shown in diagram, with port and starboard tanks and connecting channels; central tank contains electrically driven propeller; when wave raises port side, valves are operated so that water is rapidly pumped to port tank, etc.
