Requirements for antennas depend on spacecraft mission differing considerably between near-space (earth-orbit) missions and lunar and interplanetary missions; problem of providing propagation to, and reception from, ground regardless of vehicle orientation and solutions, such as turnstile antenna and phased-array antenna system under development which could provide high gains and increase security of communications; concept of adaptive arrays and principle of operation.
