Areas of technical feasibility are examined with respect to concept of European aerospace plane and modes in which aerospace plane system operates, takeoff, boost, orbit, re-entry, and landing; paper considers pre-orbit modes and several possible configurations with some of associated advantages and disadvantages; case for airbreather is studied and factors which affect issue of mass are examined; flight areas, surface protection, propulsion system, penalties, auxiliary power, and choice of end stage speed; cost effectiveness.
