Simulation program is established to determine probability of success of Surveyor Lunar Roving Vehicle in completing its primary mission, as well as various partial missions; Monte Carlo simulation technique is used to evaluate surface conditions, vehicle mobility, equipment reliability, and instrumentation accuracy; simulation details are described with respect to surface models, vehicle capabilities, time and distance for interpoint travel, detour factor derivation, time and distance for point survey, operational constraints, catastrophic and partial failures; simulations results are presented.
