By means of analytical procedure, materials problems for selected vehicles (lifting, self-propelled vehicle for horizontal takeoff and landing designated HTOL-orbital vehicle, space stations and maneuverable interstation shuttle vehicles) are defined; critical components and materials required are enumerated; time required for materials research and development is assessed and compared with vehicle schedule; same evaluation is carried out for all major components; trend charts for meteroid protection systems are presented.
